its annual campaign to fight against homophobia. Entitled Speaking About Silence, this campaign is geared
toward the sports world and will reach its highpoint on May 17, 2010, on the International Day Against
Homophobia
. The campaign aims to speak about the sports world’s reigning silence on everything

Gender, bullying, and harassment: Using queer pedagogy to disrupt
discourses of power and popularity in schools

This talk will address the problems of bullying and harassment in K-12 schools from a queer and poststructuralist feminist perspective. Dr. Meyer proposes a new paradigm for understanding bullying and harassing behaviors (including cyberbullying) in schools in order to suggest more effective solutions to improving students¹ and teachers¹educational experiences. By
introducing the principles inspired by queer theory into pedagogical discourses, we will be more able to reduce violent behaviors, drop-out rates, and improve the educational and professional opportunities forall members of a school community.
