January 17th 2008  - Video And Popcorn Night - Two documentaries about our families:  La Politique du coeur by Nancy Nicol (French with English subtitles) and Dialogue sur l’homoparentalité by Julie Huard

January 26th, February 3rd and February 9th 2008 - PART 3: Parenting Course: Lesbian-only course on CPR-Lifesaving - This is a one-day, 6-hour session to learn the basic red-cross CPR techniques for children and babies.

March 29th 2008 - PART 4: Parenting Course: natural childbirth yes it’s possible ! The goal of this frank and informal discussion is to demystify natural childbirth and to inform those that would like to have this experience about what resources are available (maison de naissance, birth companions, home-birthing, pain-control techniques, etc.).  The workshop will be animated by a mom who delivered her child naturally, a mid-wife, as well as a doulah who encourages natural childbirth. For parents and future parents.

A discussion about the roles of parents, fathers/donors and the extended family (grandparents, uncles and aunts, etc) and how our children can benefit from being part of a different kind of family.

May 21st 2008 - Part 6: Parenting Course: Out In The World: Surviving Daycare And Primary School Should I meet with the principal and teachers to discuss our family before school starts? Do the teachers have any training or experience with children of LGBT families? What if my child doesn’t want me to be "out"? Parents and a primary school teacher will address questions facing families with children entering or currently in daycare or primary school. The workshop is intended to give parents a forum to discuss this major change in their children's lives.

January 27th 2007 - Discussion Group : Envisioning Our Families Are we better, worse, the same or different? Do others see us the way we see ourselves or are there still barriers to break down? What are our own doubts and worries and are they justified? A discussion lead by Karine Igartua on how we and our children perceive our families, as well as how they are perceived by the outside world.

April 21st 2007 - Discussion Group : natural childbirth, yes it’s possible ! May 26th 2007 - Discussion Group : Blended Families - The reality of families with lesbian moms also includes the possibility of blended families.  Whether the kids were conceived in a heterosexual or lesbian relationship, families do breakdown.   The themes of this discussion will include: How do we announce the separation to our kids? What resources are availbale to us? How can we facilitate joint custody arrangements?  What is the role of our new lover in the family? There are as many answers as there are different families! A family mediator will also be present to share her expertise.

June 13th 2007 - Adoption And Fostering Group: Conference On Attachment - Ms. Louise Noël, a social worker with the Adoption Service of the Centre jeunesse de Montréal-Institut Universitaire (CJM-IU), will introduce the subject of attachment, presenting the theory and specific issues regarding adoption. Ms. Noël is specialized in attachment issues and gives a two-day training course on attachment to the CJM-IU social workers. She is also the author of Je m'attache, nous nous attachons: le lien entre un enfant et ses parents, published in 2003 by Éditions Sciences et Culture, collection CJM-IU.

December 5th 2007 - Adoption And Fostering Issues Group - In June 2006 amendments were made to the Québec Loi sur la protection de la jeunesse (Youth Protection Act – in force since July 9, 2007). These amendments determine the maximum periods by which a permanent plan must be established for a child who has been removed from his biological family by the DPJ, with the objective of limiting the amount of time that a child spends being shunted between homes. These modifications will likely have a significant impact on placements and adoptions through the mixed bank of the Québec Centres jeunesse.

January 28th 2006 - Discussion Group: The Other Mother: Second Mom or Dad? A forum for all non-bio, non-legal and/or non-stay at home moms, their partners and future parents who are interested in this topic. What is the difference between Mommy and Mama?  Who does what and why?  What are the issues related to assuming traditionally "daddy" roles when you are a woman and may have anticipated being Mommy.

February 25th 2006 - Discussion Group: Lesbian Parenting with Babies and Young Children - Let’s get together with our babies to discuss the pleasures and challenges of being a new lesbian mom.  This topic may also be of interest to pregnant moms and future parents in general. There will be a small play area available for young ones to hang out together, close to their moms!

April 22nd 2006 - For teenagers:  "VIDEO PROJECT"  You are between 14 and 18 years old, not too shy and you are interested in the possibility of winning a prize. The prize would be given during the contest "Raconte-moi Ta DiffÉRence (Tell Me About Your Difference)". The contest is organised by the Montreal Youth Coalition Against Homophobia (www.coalitionjeunesse.org).

May 27th 2006 - Discussion Group: Known Donors - Have you thought about choosing a known donor to start your family?  How will the donor integrate into your family’s everyday life? How do the new laws affect this type of family? Here is the perfect workshop for those who would like to discuss the issues of having a known donor in more detail.  The agenda of the meeting will be determined by those present.

September 27th 2006 - Adoption Issues Group: guest speaker  - A get-together (organized jointly by the Lesbian Mothers Association and the Papa-Daddy Group), to discuss issues, let off some steam and exchange news concerning adoption (both international and domestic).  This month’s theme is : Adoption of Quebec Children.  A guest speaker from the Centre de jeunesse de Montréal (DPJ) has been invited to speak about the mixed bank programme and changing attitudes towards members of our community within the centres jeunesses.

November 25th 2006 - Discussion Group: “Who’S My Dad?”- If your child hasn’t already asked this question, it won’t be long before one of his or her friends do.  Some of us have used fertility clinics or adoption to start our families, others have known-donors.  How, and with what words do we explain our children’s origins to them and to others?  What is the best way of approaching this?  Is there a best way?  How do our own feelings around family affect our choices?
