The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans-identified (LGBT) Family Coalition advocates for the legal and social recognition of LGBT families. We are a bilingual group of LGBT parents and future parents exchanging information, sharing resources and having fun together with our children. |

Representing LGBT Parents and their families As LGBT parents, many challenges lie ahead of us in terms of the social recognition of our families. Even though we have increasingly gained legal recognition, certain institutions in society still lack knowledge about our families and are not aware of our particular needs. |

Exchanging information on parenting Some of our activities are women-only, others men-only and some are mixed, depending on the topic. We have workshops that are specifically geared to future parents and others for those who already have children. We discuss medical, legal, psychological and social issues affecting our families, as well as how to deal with homophobia in the schools. Our members receive an informative quarterly newsletter on issues affecting LGBT families and have access to our LGBT Family Book and Video Library. |

The LGBT Family Coalition works for the legal and social recognition of LGBT families in collaboration with government bodies and the media. We work to increase the visibility of our families and to raise public awareness of the reality of LGBT families. Another mandate of the LGBT Family Coalition is to create new resources that can be used in primary and secondary schools, daycares, doctors’ offices, community organizations or social services to sensitize the public about our families and the diversity of our family structures. |
